TOUGH TEST FOR CRYMYCH

Rugby: Divisions 1-3 West-Preview

Division One West leaders Kidwelly are the visitors to Parc Lloyd Thomas tomorrow and Tom Powell and co face a tough afternoon against a side that apart from a one point defeat at the hands of Llanelli Wanderers have swept all before them.

The black and ambers have a well drilled pack and a talented back line that is well marshalled by Gareth Rees and two dangerous fliers on the wing in Shaun Price and Robin Davies who have been running in tries for fun.

Kidwelly currently lead Llanelli Wanderers by a point but they have a game in hand and they will be well aware that the Preselimen beat the Wanderers back in October and will be well prepared.

 

Crymych coach Neil Machin is still missing a few players through injury but welcomes back Rhys Davies at scrum half who will link up with Jake Jenkins at stand off. Joe Powell brother of captain and openside Tom comes in at second row alongside Dion Gibby and Rhys Davies switches across to number eight in place of Guto Davies who is unavailable. Another to come into the back row is Richard Sharpe Williams with Dylan Phillips still not available.

Crymych have surprised many of the top teams this term especially when the conditions have been conducive to spreading the ball about. The drying pitch and fine weather set for tomorrow afternoon will suit Powell and his troops and they will test the title credentials of Kidwelly and it should be an entertaining contest.

Third placed Aberystwyth face fourth placed side Gorseinon at Plascrug and a win for the North Ceredigion side and defeat for the Wanderers away at arch rivals Llangenech would shake things up at the top. Skipper Lee Evans and his side were edged out by just two points away at ‘Gors’ back in October in a match they felt they deserved to win and they will be keen to put this right tomorrow.

Aber who are in their debut season in division one, have done very well so far with a return of seven wins from eleven league outings under the orchestration of coaches Craig Turner and Ifan Thomas and they have a good chance of making it eight tomorrow.

In Division Two West Llanybydder face a tough challenge away at Tycroes who are currently in fifth place in the division although a long way off the promotion slots.

Fishguard will be looking to continue with their much-improved form away at Tumble. The Carmarthenshire side have only lost one game at home this term and that was against promotion chasing Hendy so a tough afternoon in prospect for the seagulls.

In Division 3 West A Tregaron, who collected their fifth win of the season last time out face a very difficult encounter against league leaders St Clears and their county rivals Cardigan will be keeping a close eye on the result of this game although it would be a major shock if the Ceredigion outfit pull off a win.

Lampeter entertain Division 3 West B strugglers Llangadog and will be confident of making it a hat trick of wins in recent weeks whilst in 3 West C Aberaeron entertain Cefneithin.
