STAR STRIKER DAVIES OUT FOR SEASON

Simon Davies

Llandysul striker Simon Davies could be out for the rest of the season as it has been confirmed that the leg injury he sustained in the top of the table clash with Lampeter Town on Boxing Day was a fracture.

Davies is the leading marksman in the Costcutters league and he has been in inspirational form this season with seventeen league goals to his name and he will be sorely missed by his team mates, who are favourites to win the title.

Manager Chris ‘Coco’ Davies told Sportsline that his star striker would be out until at least mid-March by which time his team will have completed their league season. The Swallows who have played over half of their games already, will now have to make do without their talisman as they go in search of their first league title since 1949.

Manager Davies is fortunate that he has two quality goal scorers in the shape of Adrian Hazelby and Scott Thomas who have scored 22 goals between them and he commented :”We are hoping to have Simon back by mid-March so I am going to have to push Adrian further forward but that is not a problem as he played most of last season up front for us.

“We also have Scott Thomas in good form and he has scored more for us so far this season than he did all of last season so we have options, but we have a tough month coming up.”

Llandysul have only lost one game this season and that was at the hands of Crannog in the Cwpan Dai Dynamo and it is the Llangrannog men who Davies and co meet this weekend in the league at Parc Tir Y Dref. Following this tough encounter Llandysul go head to head with Pencader in the J.Emrys Morgan Cup and on the last Saturday of the month the Swallows entertain Crannog again, but this time in the Easter Monday Cup.

So a very tough month ahead for the league leaders and manager Davies will be hoping that his squad avoid any further injuries.
