NO JOY FOR CRYMYCH

Division 1 West

Waunarlwydd 29 Crymych 3

Crymych travelled to Waunarlwydd with a number of key players missing from their ranks and there was no great surprise that they came unstuck against a team that are very tough to beat in their own back yard.

There was very little to choose between the teams when they met earlier in the season with Crymych finally edging the game by 9-8 but this time around the result was all but over by half time with Waunarlwydd leading by 22-3 and the only Crymych score coming from the boot of outside half Jake Jenkins.

First half tries from prop Dai George, centre Dan Fox and full back Ricky James and two conversions and a penalty from inside half Lee Evans saw the hosts in at the break with a comfortable advantage and this healthy lead was never really threatened in the second half despite an improved performance by the Preselimen in the very wet and slippery conditions.

Powerful number eight James Cleary added a bonus point fourth try in the second half but the visitors were unable to add to their solitary first half score despite a number of promising opportunities that went begging.

Next up for Crymych a week on Saturday is a home game against leaders Kidwelly and coach Neil Machin will be looking for big improvements against the title favourites.
