TRICKY HURDLE IN J.EMRYS MORGAN

Ceredigion Costcutter front runners Lampeter Town and Newcastle Emlyn face tricky hurdles in the J.Emrys Morgan Cup this afternoon but both clubs will be confident of making it through to the next round.

Lampeter who currently trail leaders Llandysul at the top of the table take on Berriew Reserves and skipper Luke Lovell has confirmed that he will travel with a strong team with the only absentees being Terry Witts and Steve Lovell who are away on holidays.

Some good news for the north road team is that Arwel Thomas will be available from next Saturday as his ban will be up.

Berriew Reserves have enjoyed a mixed start to the season in contrast to their first team who are riding high in division one of the Spar mid Wales league and they will struggle to contain the likes of Lovell and strike partner Gethin Hunter who have been in good form and the Costcutter side should come through for a win.

Newcastle Emlyn are at Llanilar and will pick their starting eleven from a very strong squad although they are without the services of striker Peter Almond. Making a welcome return to the first team squad is former manager Steve Hicks after a few games with the reserves. The management team of Gethin Davies and Owain Thomas will be looking closely at some of the individual performances today as next Friday they meet Llandysul under the Parc Emlyn lights in a top of the table clash.

This mouth watering contest between two of the best teams in division one should be a very competitive affair and will be a decent gauge as to how good the Swallows really are.

The Reds travel to Llanilar on the back of a rich vein of form and with players like Ben Thomas, Oliver Evans ( if he can find his boots from last week!) and Dion Davies in good form and they are also very solid at the back with outstanding performers in players like Huw Jonah Jones and they should have too much for Cambrian Tyres outfit Llanilar.

Maesglas face the longest trip of the day as they are away at Mid Wales South side Presteigne Reserves and the Blues have struggled to field a strong team for this tie. Paul Jones and his men are out to make a day of this and they may well have to drown their sorrows on their long bus trip home as their opponents are on a six match unbeaten record. However you just never quite know in the cup.

Pencader make the long journey to Builth Wells Reserves and manager Kevin Evans has also been struggling for players for this trip and this looks another very tall order for his men.

Crannog face Costcutter rivals Bargod Rangers who are still without a win this season although they did impress when they played at Llangrannog earlier in the season in an entertaining league match and this performance will give them some heart.

There is also an all Ceredigion affair at Parc Arthur where New Quay entertain a St Dogmaels team that are fast improving.

Cilgerran appear to have the easiest task this afternoon as they face SDUC a side that have conceded 40 goals in their last two matches and they face another torrid afternoon at Parc Y Dre.

Felinfach host Bow Street Reserves and second division outfit Ffostrasol entertain Aberdyfi and the Wanderers will be keen to get back to winning ways after losing to Maesglas last weekend.

In Division one of the Costcutter league unbeaten leaders Llandysul are away at Llanddewi Brefi and Chris Davies and his men should be far too strong for John Jones and his young side whilst at the King George field reigning champions Cardigan Town face Aberaeron Reserves and this could go any way as the Magpies are struggling at the moment,

In division two Aberporth welcome Llanboidy and both teams will be eager to add to their solitary win this term.

Two games survive in the Reserves Cup with Bargod Reserves hosting neighbours Newcastle Emlyn Reserves, and Llanboidy Reserves entertain Ffostrasol Reserves.
