FAW Trophy Round Four:
Goodwick United 0-1 Pencoed Athletic
Missed chances proved costly for Goodwick United as they were knocked out of the FAW Trophy by a solitary goal.
Nigel Delaney and his team created a number of decent chances just before the break and in the second half but they could not quite turn these opportunities into goals and a penalty kick on the half hour eventually proved to be their undoing.
The South Wales Alliance League side should have gone two up soon afterwards but Hopson managed to parry a Rhys Goss volley away from goal before the Phoenix Park outfit were presented with their best chance of the half but Jordan Griffiths was just wide after getting his head to a cross from Matthew Delaney. Both Sean Seymour-Davies and Adam Raymond saw efforts go narrowly wide and Griffiths had another chance just before the break but he failed to trouble Pencoed keeper Mattie Roberts.
With just a few minutes remaining Griffiths looked to have scored but his shot which had beaten the keeper rolled across the goal and away from danger and the hosts were eventually edged out.
