FRIDAY RUGBY PREVIEW
Division 3 West A
Llangwm v Cardigan
Cardigan travel to Llangwm tomorrow for a league match that on paper should be a formality with most eyes already on the top of the table clash the following week with Division three leaders St Clears .
Llangwm have only managed one win to date and that was away at St Davids and they have been heavily beaten in all the other games and they will struggle against Cardigan even though skipper Llyr Griffiths and his men have not really fired on all cylinders yet.
Coach Colin Horscroft has rested experienced back rower Colin Davies who is carrying a knock and has brought in Gethin Jones to start at six. Steff Crompton comes in at lock to join Dean Harries, whilst at hooker newly- wed, Aled Phillips packs down alongside Ben Hughes and his brand new brother in law Tomos Evans.
Aaron Evans plays at scrum half with Luke Rogers outside him and Iestyn Crompton comes in at centre to probably keep the place warm for Marcus Castle who returns from injury to the bench and Castle and Emyr Harries must be shoe ins to partner up in midfield for the Saints game.
Crompton is a luxury for Horscroft as he is a talented footballer who can slot into most positions but will he be playing at ten a week tomorrow? That is the question supporters in the Gollop Stand are starting to ask and it is a fair question as the experienced stand off is still the best in that position in division three but he has been used sparingly so far this term.
Horscroft is blessed with two very good number nines in Evans and Rogers, but will one of them have to make way against St Clears ?
That is something for the selectors to ponder over next week but for now Horscroft will want to put Llangwm away and he has a side out tomorrow well equipped to do the job and probably with plenty to spare.
