Division One West.
Kidwelly 36 Crymych 15.
Two quick fire tries in just a few minutes of the second half proved to be the major difference between the sides in this hard fought fixture at Parc Stephens.
The Preselimen were still in this game at 12-3 down after they had managed to soak up a long period of pressure from one of the favourites for promotion but two tries from winger Sean Pearce both converted by full back Gareth Rees changed the course of the match.
Black and ambers scrum half Alex Davies sniped his way through for the opening score which was converted by Rees before Rhys Davies slotted over a penalty for the visitors but there was not much between the sides at this stage although Kidwelly were beginning to take a stranglehold on proceedings.
However the home lead increased when second row Chris Marks claimed a second try for the hosts to put them 12-3 ahead at half time.
The visitors bounced back after the break and threatened for long periods before they were hit hard by a two try volley that knocked the stuffing out of them and they never really recovered despite a sterling fight back. Flying winger Pearce crossed out wide for two tries in just a few minutes both of which were converted by Rees and it looked a very long way back for Crymych at 26-3.
However the visitors pushed hard for a score to get themselves back into this game and they were rewarded for their persistence when Nicholas Bevan sneaked over before Rees added a penalty for Kidwelly to increase the deficit.
Dion Gibby added a second try for the visitors late on which was converted by Sion Thomas to take the score to 29-15 but it was the home side who had the final say of the match when Elliot Davies crossed for a try in the final minute to crown a bonus point win for the league leaders who head the table with neighbours Llanelli Wanderers on ten points apiece.
This Saturday Crymych entertain Penclawdd who edged out Gowerton on the weekend by 15-8 to claim their first win of the season.
