LLANDYSUL FACE DIFFICULT AFTERNOON

FOOTBALL ACTION TODAY

Saturday morning on the ball with SPORTSLINE.

Front runners Llandysul face difficult opponents this afternoon in the shape of Crannog and Chris Davies and his men who are not at full strength face a steely Llangrannog outfit who won this corresponding fixture  last season.

Swallows playmaker Ian Barret is unavailable and Terry Maynard, who is nursing an injury starts on the bench and the Crannog midfield of Huw Reed, Rhys Davies, Chris Welch and Dylan Davies will be looking to stamp their authority early on but they will need to be a great deal smarter than they were against Cardigan a few weeks ago.

Manager Davies will probably opt for an engine room formation of Ben Thomas, Lewis Jones and Danny Williams with Mathew Newbould just ahead of them. This will allow for front runners Adrian Hazelby and Simon Davies to cause some havoc down the channels. Crannog are also missing a couple of players but this match of the day promises to be very physical one and referee Alan Jenkins will have to be on his toes.

Cardigan Town have played really well since their opening day defeat at the hands of Cilgerran but they face a re-vitalised New Quay team who will be looking forward to the visit of the league champions. Town have a decent blend of youth and experience but key midfielder James Evans struggles to make most games because of work commitments and the Magpies can ill afford to be without players of this calibre. Blackford and co though should still have too much on the day for the seasiders.

James Evans crucial player for Town

St Dogmaels will be hoping to bounce back from a heavy defeat at the hands of Lampeter but they will have their hands full at Llanddewi Brefi especially as they are once again scratching around for a side.

Stars manager John Jones welcomes back at least four key players missing from last week’s defeat at Cardigan and the Saints will need to start well or it could be a long afternoon against a very enthusiastic young Stars team..

One of the most interesting ties of the day is between Felinfach and Newcastle Emlyn and there doesn’t appear to be much between these two at present. The milkmen will be confident of getting something out of this game especially as the reds are missing some key men. Dafydd Owens the scorer of the late equaliser at Crannog is out as is Mathew Goodman and playmaker Oliver Evans has been ruled out for a few weeks.

Lampeter who entertain Bargod Rangers will be looking to make it a hat trick of wins against a Parc Puw side that are really struggling and it would be a major surprise if skipper Luke Lovell and his men didn’t come through for another three points.

Cilgerran Rovers tackle Aberaeron Reserves on home soil and Neil Morgan and his side need to put in a decent performance against a team they would expect to beat at Parc Y Dre. Aberaeron gave Llandysul a tough time in the opening half last weekend before they were blown away and the Rovers can expect a similar challenge today.
