Division 3 league leaders Llechryd increased their lead at the top of the table after they secured a winning draw against promotion rivals Haverfordwest 3rds and Steve Curran and his men were unlucky not to pick up a straight win as their opponents were left clinging on by their fingertips on 107-9.
Haverfordwest 3rds 107-9
Llechryd 140-6
Opening bat Mike Carter who has been in imperious form in recent weeks was once again the top scorer and he made 47 and he found a useful ally in opening partner Dewi Davies who also made a valuable contribution with 44 runs. The Teifisiders though were unable to build on this excellent foundation and they closed on 140-6 with Owen James the pick of the home bowlers with 4-19 and helping to restrict Llechryd to a modest score.
Haverfordwest struggled from the off and were unable to put any partnerships together in the face of some tight bowling from the likes of Mark Newell with 4-24. David Haynes who scored 18 was one of the few batsmen to get in but he was clean bowled just as he looked in for a decent score.
