DOUBLE DEFEAT FOR LLANDYSUL

Rhidian Harries

South Wales Cricket Association
Division 1
Llandysul 56 all out.
Tata Steel 60-0
Llandysul slumped to one of their heaviest defeats in recent times after they were beaten by league leaders Tata Steel at Tir Y Dref.
The home batsmen had no answer to the accurate bowling of left arm swing bowler Nathan Ferrel who took nine wickets and the only real resistance came from tail ender Jordan Jones who hit a brisk 24.
Ferrel who returned figures of 9-33 in his ten over spell made an impact from the off and he struck in his second over when opener Rhidian Harries was caught behind, one of six catches taken by wicket keeper Richard Jones.
Fellow opener Meurig Jones was next to go a few balls later when he was trapped lbw by David Jones and Llandysul were in serious trouble with Iestyn Evans skipper Darrel Griffiths and Carwyn Evans all back in the pavillion with the score on 19.
Ieuan Paske, Arfon Thomas and Arfon Jones all went without scoring as Ferrel ripped through the batting order before Ben Edkins and Jones took the score past 50.
Chasing a mere 57 to win was a simple task and openers Martin Lewis and Rohan Herbert knocked off the runs between them after only thirteen overs to complete a comprehensive victory to keep Tata well clear at the top of the division ahead of nearest rivals Briton Ferry Steel.
Division 5
In division five bottom side Llandysul 2nds also suffered a heavy defeat when they went down to Cowbridge by eight wickets at the Athletic Ground.
Put in to bat the visitors who travelled with only ten men made a positive start through in form opener Gareth Chapple (24) but were soon in trouble as Ian Evans sent  wickets tumbling and at 46-5 Llandysul had to dig in. Tail ender Dafydd Hatley and skipper Huw Evans made a determined effort to get the score up to three figures but the visitors were eventually all out for 96 in 38 overs.
Cowbridge made light work of the job in hand with their middle order of David Gascoyne (25),Edward Lewis(24) and Naveed Younas (29) all delivering runs to take their team safely through to victory and an outside chance of promotion.
