LLECHRYD COAST THROUGH TO FINAL

CURRAN LEADS THE WAY

Alan Brown Cup Semi Final (20 overs)

Llechryd v Pembroke Dock

Llechryd reached the final of the Alan Brown Cup last night after they comfortably beat Pembroke Dock with opener John Curran leading the way with a majestic innings of 72 not out.

The Teifisiders will now take on the winners of the other semi final tie between Saundersfoot and Herbrandston on July 3rd and this promises to be another cracking 20 over thrash.

The Castell Malgwyn side put the visitors into bat and they were well served by impressive batter Luke Murray who top scored with 74. Pembroke Dock eventually reached a decent total of 139-6 with Llechryd left needing seven an over to get through to the final.

All rounder Curran was again the pick of the bowlers but Rhys Beard and Mike Godfrey also chipped in with some timely wickets.

This target seemed well within the host’s capabilities especially on such a superb batting strip and Curran soon got into to the groove alongside recent centurion Mike Carter and they took full advantage of the lighting fast outfield .

Curran got in very quickly and stroked the ball to all parts of the ground and he was soon over the 30 mark. Carter looked to be set for another decent knock until he was forced to hobble off with an injury but big hitting Rhys Beard was next in and he carried on where he had left off on the weekend with some cracking boundaries.

Curran though was the man of the moment and the talented stroke maker who seems to be blossoming as the season progresses carved out a beautiful innings of 72 not out to steer his team to a comfortable victory for the loss of only one wicket. Beard also carried his bat for a quick fire 30.
