FELINFACH EDGED OUT IN LADIES CUP FINAL.

Llety Parc Ladies Football

League Cup Final

Felinfach 2 Aberystwyth University 4

Felinfach ladies produced a stubborn and resilient performance after being reduced to ten players early on in this cup final but two goals in quick succession in the second half proved to be their undoing.
Felinfach took an early lead through a Tracey Davies free kick despite losing a player after only five minutes with an ankle injury and their ten man squad had to battle on against the odds all the way through the game.
Aber Uni bounced back with an equaliser when Alex Stafford netted and there was very little in this contest going into the break.
Stafford hit the target once again ten minutes after the change over and it looked all but over when Grace Walers made it 3-1 soon afterwards.
Aber were awarded a penalty mid way through the half when their opponents conceded a penalty from a hand ball but unfortunately for Natalie Scott was was unable to capitalise and she blasted her spot kick over the bar.
This was a let off for Felinfach and they refused to throw the towel in and they came back again and were rewarded when midfielder Tracey Davies slipped past several defenders and her pin point cross was met firmly by Eirlys Davies who headed home to put Felinfach back in the game at 3-2.
This set up a very tense final quarter and it was Aber with the one man advantage who sealed the game with a goal from skipper Holly Marshall direct from a free kick.
A fitting end to an outstanding game of football between two well matched sides and a credit to Llety Parc Ladies Football League.

Ray Hughes the Vice Chairman of the Llety Parc Ladies League presented the trophy to the winning captain Holly Marshall.
